Product Overview
- Nile Red is a lipophilic dye commonly used to detect lipid droplets within cells.
- It belongs to the family of lipophilic phenoxazine fluorescent dyes.
- When combined with esters, triglycerides, various fatty acids, and other lipid substances, Nile Red emits fluorescence.
- Under excitation at a wavelength of 543nm, it exhibits intense orange fluorescence (with an emission wavelength of 598nm).
- Additionally, it shows red fluorescence under ultraviolet light.
- Furthermore, it can also be used for protein staining.

Preparation of Stock Solution
Prepare a 10 mM stock solution using DMSO. For example: Dissolve 1 mg of Nile Red powder in 314.1 μL of DMSO.
Note:
- Unused stock solution is recommended to be aliquoted and stored at -20°C to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
- Moisture-absorbed DMSO significantly affects the solubility of the product. Please use freshly opened DMSO.
Preparation of Working Solution
Dilute the stock solution with an appropriate buffer (e.g., serum-free culture medium or PBS) to prepare a working solution of 1-100 μM. Note:
- The final concentration of the working solution is recommended to be optimized according to different cell lines and experimental systems.
- If difficult to dissolve, ultrasound treatment can be used to facilitate dissolution.
Precautions
- Avoid using lipid substances in cell culture media. During staining incubation and observation, avoid strong light exposure to prevent fluorescence quenching.
- For your safety and health, wear lab coat and disposable gloves during operation.
- This product is for research use only. Do not use for pharmaceuticals, clinical diagnosis or treatment, food and cosmetics, etc. Do not store in residential areas.
