Extraction Process:

  1. Deparaffinization: Xylene removes paraffin wax, a common component used to preserve tissues.

  3. De-Crosslinking: Heating at 90°C reverses the effects of formalin fixation, allowing easier access to nucleic acids.

Storage and Stability

  • Proteinase K: Keep it cool in the refrigerator (2-8°C) upon arrival for maximum effectiveness.
  • Short-Term Storage (up to 12 weeks): Proteinase K can last at room temperature (15-25°C) for up to 12 weeks without issues.
  • Everything Else: Store other kit components at room temperature (15-25°C). They are stable for at least 18 months under these conditions.
